What 㒻 means
Unicode maps this compatibility form to 㒻.
Shuowen Jiezi, an early Chinese character dictionary completed around 100 CE, glosses 㒻 as “to press forward and come into view.” Kangxi Dictionary later adds “to come suddenly to the front”; Taiwan’s Ministry of Education records 㒻 as a variant of 冒.
㒻 preserves round-trip conversion with planes 3–7 and 15 of Taiwan’s CNS 11643-1992 standard, so characters encoded there can pass through Unicode and back with their identity intact.
Why does 㒻 turn into 㒻?
NFC normalization can replace it with 㒻.
NFC is a common Unicode text-normalization form. It makes equivalent text compare alike, but can remove this character’s separate code point; preserve 㒻 only when the original CNS encoding matters.

Questions people ask
1Why does 㒻 show as a box on some devices?
Not every system ships a font for the CJK Compatibility Ideographs Supplement block. Where none is installed, the character shows as an empty box; adding a font such as Noto fixes it. The character itself is still correct and copies correctly.
