What 﨎 means
It preserves a distinct form from an older Japanese character set.
The Shuowen Jiezi, an early Chinese dictionary, depicts 雙 as a hand holding two birds; later meanings include pair, two, parallel, and match.
Unicode kept 﨎 as a compatibility form so text from IBM’s Japanese repertoire could pass into Unicode and back without losing it. UnicodeData lists no decomposition mapping for FA0E, so Unicode normalization does not turn it into 雙 or 双.
A preservation form for exact-source text or legacy Japanese data.
