What 𣛜 means
It is read Aioi in a specialized Japanese theatre title.
Aioi (あいおい) is a Japanese word for things growing together, such as two trunks rising from one root. The title uses 𣛜 as its one-character spelling; ordinary Japanese writes the word 相生.
That ordinary spelling appears in the preface to the Kokin Wakashū, a classical Japanese poetry anthology, dated 905–914. The kabuki title 初緑𣛜曾我 was first staged in Edo (now Tokyo) in January 1728.
Is 𣛜 a Japanese character?
It is a kokuji, a kanji coined in Japan.
Kanji is the Japanese name for Han characters, a writing tradition shared across East Asia. Kokuji describes kanji formed in Japan; the reading and documented stage use here are Japanese.
Specialized and historical: it is documented in a Japanese kabuki title, not as an everyday spelling.
Use 相生 for ordinary Japanese prose; reserve 𣛜 for the title or character study.
