What 𣟻 means
𣟻 and 檍 are written forms of the same tree-name character. In Mandarin, 檍 is read yì. The Shuowen Jiezi, an early Chinese character dictionary, describes it as a tree related to catalpa.
That entry says large trunks could make coffins and smaller wood could make bows. The Rites of Zhou, an early Chinese text on institutions and crafts, ranks 檍 second among seven woods for making a bow.
Because 𣟻 is in CJK Extension B, it needs a font that covers that block or it may appear as an empty box. In 2026, Windows 10 and later include it in the traditional Chinese fonts MingLiU and DFKai-SB.

Questions people ask
1Why does 𣟻 show as a box on some devices?
Because that device's fonts have no glyph for it. The character is still correct and still copies correctly — the box is a missing glyph, not a broken character.
