What 𣾾 means
It let Vietnamese writers put their language into writing. Chữ Nôm adapted Chinese characters and parts of them to write Vietnamese words. One scholarly periodization places Proto-Nôm (an early stage) in the 8th–9th centuries; the script served literature, religion, law, history, and government records from the 10th century into the 20th.
