Han character 𩏺

𩏺 is recorded in an old Chinese dictionary as part of a word for leather used on a knife handle, but its written form is disputed. The Song dynasty pronunciation dictionary Jiyun, completed in 1039, records 𩏪𩏺 for that material. The Chinese character dictionary Zhengzitong, based on a 1627 manuscript, calls this form a mistake. Together, the dictionaries preserve a disagreement, not one settled definition.
