What 𩏻 means

A young bird still fed by its parents. The Erya, a guide to Chinese words and things, contrasts 鷇 with 雛, young birds able to feed themselves. The character dictionary Shuowen Jiezi defines 鷇 as a bird’s young that is fed after birth.

The Zihui bu (字彙補), a supplement to a Chinese character dictionary printed in 1666, records this exact form with the reading kòu and the same meaning as 鷇.

Questions people ask

1

Why does 𩏻 show as a box on some devices?

Because that device's fonts have no glyph for it. The character is still correct and still copies correctly — the box is a missing glyph, not a broken character.
