cjk unified ideograph-29fdf

Chinese bird-name character

40928/42720

𩿟 is a Chinese character glossed as “a bird’s name,” read qù in Mandarin. The Yùpiān, a Chinese character dictionary first compiled around 543 CE, gives the bird gloss; the Jíyùn gives a phonetic spelling, and the Kangxi Dictionary, completed in 1716, cites both. Related graph 𩿹 rearranges the same two components and is listed as a form of 朅 (“to depart”), so it is a different character.

Why does 𩿟 show as a box on some devices?

Not every system ships a font for the CJK Unified Ideographs Extension B block. Where none is installed, the character shows as an empty box; adding a font such as Noto fixes it. The character itself is still correct and copies correctly.
