What does 𪏵 mean?
It can be read lí as 黎 or nì as “sticky-looking.”
Chinese dictionaries record 𪏵 in two roles: a written variant of 黎, read lí in Mandarin and used for “many” or “the people,” and a separate nì reading for “sticky-looking.” The Taiwan Ministry of Education’s Dictionary of Chinese Character Variants links these readings to 黎 and 䵒, respectively.
The early second-century CE Shuowen Jiezi, a Chinese character dictionary, describes the older 黎 word as sticky millet paste used to make footwear adhere. A Qing-dynasty note by Duan Yucai says the later “many” sense displaced this shoe-adhesive sense.

Questions people ask
1Why does 𪏵 show as a box on some devices?
Because that device's fonts have no glyph for it. The character is still correct and still copies correctly — the box is a missing glyph, not a broken character.
