What 𪗘 means
𪗘 is a variant of 齧, meaning “to bite” or “to gnaw.” The Mandarin reading of 齧 is niè. Around 100 CE, the Shuowen, an early Chinese character dictionary, glossed 齧 this way. The 1716 Kangxi Dictionary cites the 1615 Zihui dictionary, which calls 𪗘 a common written form of 啮. The same verb also describes water wearing away earth or a notch left in a broken blade.
A historical dictionary variant; use 齧 as the head form when normalizing a text.

Questions people ask
1Why does 𪗘 show as a box on some devices?
Because that device's fonts have no glyph for it. The character is still correct and still copies correctly — the box is a missing glyph, not a broken character.
