What 𪛚 means
It marks 上 (shàng) in the next lower pitch range. Kunqu is a Chinese opera tradition; gongche (gōngchě) writes pitches with characters. In numbered notation, 上 is do (1); an octave repeats a note name in the next pitch range. Qing court-theatre scores used a final stroke for several lower notes. Taiwan’s Beiguan, a traditional ensemble-music form, uses a similar hook. These marks are written instructions, not extra syllables.

1Why does 𪛚 show as a box on some devices?
Because that device's fonts have no glyph for it. The character is still correct and still copies correctly — the box is a missing glyph, not a broken character.
