𭮻

cjk unified ideograph-2dbbb

Variant form of 毄

3340/7473

𭮻 is a written variant of 毄, a Chinese character for striking or colliding. The Han-dynasty 《说文解字》, an early Chinese character dictionary, explains 毄 as things hitting one another and links its shape to 軎 (the end of a wheel axle) and 殳 (a striking weapon). Song-dynasty scholar 洪适, in 《隸釋》, his study of Han inscriptions, also identifies 𭮻 with 繫, “to fasten.”

Why does 𭮻 show as a box on some devices?

Because that device's fonts have no glyph for it. The character is still correct and still copies correctly — the box is a missing glyph, not a broken character.
