What 𭹕 means
𭹕 is a variant form of 瑁.
The Rites of Zhou describes 瑁 as a jade fitting the ruler placed over the pointed end of a visiting lord’s jade tablet; the carved notches had to match. In the compound 玳瑁, 瑁 appears in the Chinese word for the hawksbill turtle and its shell. These are separate word-level uses.
In a note dated 1063, the Song scholar Ouyang Xiu compares two written forms of a Tang prince’s name: a history gives 瑁, while his mother’s carved memorial stone gives 琩. This is a personal-name spelling dispute, separate from the character’s court-ritual meaning.
