What 𭾩 means
It represents the action of looking, through 看. Japanese character references record 𭾩 with the readings kan and miru (“look”).
The Shuowen Jiezi, an early Chinese character dictionary compiled between 100 and 121 CE, glosses 看 as “to look out” and explains its upper part as a hand shading the eye. A dictionary of ancient Chinese writing gives another analysis: 目 means “eye,” while 㫃 is a sound component, a part that hints at pronunciation.
