What 𭾪 means
The base form 睘 means “a startled gaze.”
Shuowen Jiezi, a Han-era character dictionary, glosses 睘 as eyes staring in alarm. It cites 獨行瞏瞏 from the Book of Songs, an early Chinese poetry collection; old commentary reads that phrase as “walking alone, without support.” An early Western Zhou bronze vessel (1046–977 BCE) names 作冊睘, who cast it to honor his late father after receiving gifts. This shows 睘 in a personal name, but does not date the variant form 𭾪.

Questions people ask
1Why does 𭾪 show as a box?
The current font or app may lack its glyph. Try a font with broader Han coverage; a missing-character box is a display problem, not a change in the character's meaning.
