What 𭾮 means
In traditional Zhuang writing, it spells ninz: “lie down” or “sleep.”
It is a Sawndip form. Sawndip, also called Old Zhuang script, uses Chinese characters and Chinese-like forms to write Zhuang, a language spoken in southern China.
The writing tradition developed over centuries for songs, ritual texts, stories and records. Tang-era inscriptions dated 682 and 697 preserve local nonstandard forms; scholars debate whether these count as Sawndip or precursors.
Why are there several spellings?
Several glyphs can spell the same Zhuang word.
Traditional Sawndip spellings also write ninz as 眠 and other forms.
