What 𮗣 means
It writes the Zhuang word gaeu, whose basic meaning is “horn.”
Zhuang is a language in the Tai family, spoken mainly in Guangxi in southern China. Historical linguists reconstruct a shared ancestral Tai word, Proto-Tai qawᴬ (“horn”), behind gaeu and related Thai and Lao words.
Is 𮗣 a Zhuang character?
Yes. It is a traditional character in Sawndip, a way to write Zhuang.
Sawndip adapted Chinese character forms: writers borrowed signs for their sound or meaning and also built new characters from familiar parts. It has been used since at least the Tang dynasty (618–907). As of 2024, a modified Latin alphabet is the main writing system for Zhuang.
Why does 𮗣 look different across fonts?
Different fonts can give the same character different outlines.
The Unicode 18.0 code chart treats its sample as a reference, not a required design.

Questions people ask
1Why does 𮗣 show as a box on some devices?
Not every system ships a font for the CJK Unified Ideographs Extension F block. Where none is installed, the character shows as an empty box; adding a font such as Noto fixes it. The character itself is still correct and copies correctly.
