What 𮛫 means

Read it as the verb for stepping or treading.

A Buddhist pronunciation guide from the Song dynasty identifies 蹈 as the standard form and links the reading to 導 (Mandarin dǎo). Its preface says the guide corrects copying errors and supplies readings for Buddhist scriptures.

The Ming dynasty collection of notes 留青日札 cites 𮛫 in a variant printed reading of a Tang dynasty poem.
