6318/7473

𮝝 is a distinct glyph of 輕, meaning “light” or “not heavy.” Around 100 CE, Shuowen Jiezi glossed 輕 as a light carriage; later senses include slight, mild, easy, and nimble. Chinese uses 輕/轻; Japanese uses 軽.

What 𮝝 means

It means “light,” especially not heavy.

Around 100 CE, the Chinese character dictionary Shuowen Jiezi described 輕 as a light carriage. 車 means “vehicle,” while 巠 gives a sound clue. Later dictionaries also record “small in amount,” “slight,” “gentle,” “easy,” “nimble,” and “treat lightly.”

Japan’s Moji Joho character database supplied this preserved shape for administrative characters, including names. It is a form of the same word, not a separate everyday sense.

Neutral: it keeps 輕’s ordinary word sense.

For an exact name or record, keep 𮝝; replacing it with 輕 or 軽 changes the text.

Questions people ask

1

Why does 𮝝 show as a box on some devices?

Because that device's fonts have no glyph for it. The character is still correct and still copies correctly — the box is a missing glyph, not a broken character.
