What 𰚼 means
It names nebulium, a proposed element inferred from nebular light. In 1864, William Huggins studied the Cat’s Eye Nebula, a cloud of gas in space, with a spectroscope—an instrument that separates light into colored lines. Two bright green lines matched no known elements, so he proposed they came from a new one.
In 1927, Ira Sprague Bowen showed the lines came from oxygen atoms missing two electrons.
