Read its context: 云 can mean “cloud” or “say.”

Its ancestor appears in oracle-bone script as a picture of a cloud. That writing tradition is dated broadly to the fourteenth to eleventh century BCE; the range dates the tradition, not a precise first appearance for 云. Scribes later added 雨 (“rain”) to mark the weather sense, forming 雲 and leaving 云 for the classical “say” sense. Modern simplified Chinese uses 云 for both cloud and speech.

What does 云 mean in online words?

It marks cloud computing or an activity conducted online. 云计算 means cloud computing: computing services delivered over the internet. 云会议 and 云直播 frame meetings and live broadcasts as online activities.
