What 𰛈 means
The surrounding script or score tells you. In Old Zhuang square writing (Sawndip), which uses Chinese-derived characters to write the Zhuang language, 𰛈 follows adjectives; a repeated dictionary example describes a faint taste.
Gongche notation is a traditional Chinese pitch system written with characters. In Cantonese opera, this glyph marks scale step 1 with deon jam: sound the note once, then leave a rest. The plain pitch sign is 上.
Sawndip developed from Chinese characters as a way to write Zhuang; it was used for songs, stories, contracts and other local records. It is attested on a stone inscription from 682. Unicode's source record traces this exact glyph to the 1989 Old Zhuang Character Dictionary. Gongche grew from wind-instrument fingering marks and was already used by the Sui-Tang period. Those system dates do not date this glyph’s first use.

Questions people ask
1Why does 𰛈 show as a box on some devices?
Because that device's fonts have no glyph for it. The character is still correct and still copies correctly — the box is a missing glyph, not a broken character.
