What 𰨷 means
It is one bundle made from four handfuls of rice ears. The Zhuang reading is mik. Sawndip is the traditional character-based script used for Zhuang languages in southern China.
How far back does Sawndip go?
Several Sawndip characters appear in a stone inscription from 682 CE. It was carved at present-day Shanglin, in Guangxi, southern China. Zhuang writers adapted Chinese characters and their parts to write Zhuang words. In 1175, Fan Chengda reported that Sawndip was used for local legal complaints and contracts. Those dates describe the wider writing tradition, not necessarily 𰨷 itself.
