What 𰹿 means
𰹿 is an analogically simplified form of 軵. An analogical simplification applies a familiar short form to part of an older character: 𰹿 uses simplified 车 where 軵 has traditional 車, while 付 stays on the right. The older character supplies the dictionary meanings.
Shuowen Jiezi, an early Chinese character dictionary completed around 121 CE, defines 軵 as pushing a cart backward so something can be handed over. Later Chinese dictionaries also record pushing, a light cart, support, and squeezing.
A 20th-century note on Qichun speech in Hubei uses 軵 for pulling an object backward and then pushing it forward.
