Cart-lining character

𰺖 is a simplified form of 轃 (zhēn), a Chinese character for the slatted floor lining inside a large cart. In a Han-era song, 轃 also stands for 臻, “to arrive.” Read the surrounding sentence to tell which sense fits.

What 𰺖 means

It names a fitting inside an old cart, not the cart itself.

Shuowen Jiezi, an early Chinese dictionary, defines 轃 as bamboo or wooden slats laid in a large cart. 轃 combines 車 (“cart”) with 秦 as a sound component; 𰺖 uses simplified 车 for 車.

In the Book of Han, a ceremonial song also uses 轃 for 臻, “to arrive.” Context distinguishes these senses.
