The Unicode IRG submission cites Sarah Allan’s Buried Ideas (2015) and figure 184 on page 124. The book studies early Chinese bamboo-slip manuscripts—narrow bamboo strips used for writing. The Han-era character dictionary Shuowen Jiezi explains 逅 through 邂逅 (“meeting unexpectedly”), and parses it as 辵 (movement) plus 后 (a sound cue).
