What 䵅 means
䵅 is a historical written variant of 熬. The Shuowen Jiezi, a Chinese character dictionary compiled in 121 CE under the Eastern Han dynasty, glosses it as heating food or grain until dry. The related 熬 is attested earlier in an inscription on a bronze vessel from China's Western Zhou dynasty.
䵅 uses 麥 (“wheat”) where 熬 uses 火 (“fire”). These components distinguish alternate written forms of the same Chinese character.
