What 仨 means
仨 is a colloquial Mandarin word for “three.”
Mandarin Pinyin writes its pronunciation sā; say “sah” on a high, level tone. It compresses 三个 (“three” plus the common counting word 个) into one spoken word. 仨 can follow a pronoun or come before a noun.
A regional folk song recorded in Pu Songling's writing from the Qing period includes “东倆倆,西仨仨,” roughly “two in the east, three in the west.” It shows 仨 in colloquial verse; it does not date the word's beginning.
When someone sends 仨, what do they mean?
Read it as a count of three; the surrounding words show what is counted.
仨 contributes the number, not the identity of the people or things being counted.
Colloquial, with a northern-Mandarin flavor; 三个 is safer in neutral or formal prose.
Can 仨 take 个 after it? No: 仨 already contains the counting word, so 仨个 repeats it.
