What 勚 means
It names strenuous labor and, by extension, long-use wear.
勩 appears in the Book of Poetry, an early Chinese poetry collection: “莫知我勩” (“No one knows my toil”). Shuowen Jiezi, a Chinese character dictionary, glosses it as toil; it analyzes 力 for meaning and 貰 for sound. Later commentary applies it to worn objects. As of 2026-09-10, a dictionary records a Suzhou (China) expression, 勩箸, for clothes worn from long use.
A 2013 standard list puts it in level three, for less-common specialist or classical characters.
It can mean wear, not just fatigue.

Questions people ask
1Why does 勚 show as a box on some devices?
Because that device's fonts have no glyph for it. The character is still correct and still copies correctly — the box is a missing glyph, not a broken character.
