What 寀 means
A fief in one compound; officials in another.
寀地 is a granted domain, also written 采地 or 采邑. Later compounds extend 寀 from land to office terms.
The old Chinese dictionary Shuowen Jiezi glosses 寀 as land and describes its lower part as a sound cue. Qin-system slips and small-seal script (an early formal style) also preserve the form.
Historical and literary; it belongs in older Chinese compounds.
Check the compound: similar-looking 采 is a separate character.

Because that device's fonts have no glyph for it. The character is still correct and still copies correctly — the box is a missing glyph, not a broken character.
