What 峕 means
It marks the word “time.”
峕 is an altered form of 旹, an older form of 時; 山 changes the written form, not the meaning.
The earliest dated example is a Tang inscription at Nanchan Temple (782); later records include a Northern Song Cangjie Temple stele (975), the closing note of Japanese medical guide 醫學切要指南 (1714), and the preface to Korean primer 童蒙先習 (1742).
Archaic and source-bound; preserve it in faithful transcriptions.

Because that device's fonts have no glyph for it. The character is still correct and still copies correctly — the box is a missing glyph, not a broken character.
