What 峫 means
Read xie for mountain form, ye for a mountain name.
A 2024 dictionary entry says 峫 is absent from Shuowen and traces it to Jiyun, completed in 1039, the earliest source established here.
Its mountain radical points to terrain writing, and one place-name note writes Langya Mountain with 峫 while calling 琊 the original form. As of 2026 the sources checked give it no modern slang use.
Specialist and archival; use only with mountain or place-name context.
Do not replace 琊 in a place name without source support.
