What 庮 means
It means rotten wood in an old house or its smell.
The earliest recorded entry is in the Eastern Han dictionary Shuowen Jiezi (說文解字), which quotes the Zhouli (周禮), a ritual text. Its food-service rule treats a cow crying at night as a warning that its meat may smell of rotten wood. In later classical writing, Xunzi (荀子) also lists 庮 among odors the nose can distinguish.
Archaic and specialist; best read in a dictionary or within a classical or regional text.
Its old-house rot sense is specific; do not treat 庮 as a general word for any bad smell.

1Why does 庮 show as a box on some devices?
Because that device's fonts have no glyph for it. The character is still correct and still copies correctly — the box is a missing glyph, not a broken character.
