What 瓏 means
Use Mandarin Pinyin or the Cangjie input method. Pinyin writes Mandarin sounds with letters: enter long and choose 瓏 from traditional Chinese candidates. Simplified Chinese mode may offer 珑 instead.
Cangjie is another character-input method: enter M-G-Y-B-P. Font designs can draw 瓏 with slightly different strokes; the character itself stays the same.
What does 瓏 mean?
Its old dictionary sense is dragon-patterned jade used in a rain prayer. A Han-era entry in the Shuowen Jiezi, an early Chinese character dictionary, defines 瓏 as a jade object marked with a dragon design for praying for rain. That entry records a meaning; it does not date the character’s first appearance.
Later dictionary entries keep the jade association but show its meaning in compounds: 玲瓏 describes something fine or intricate and, of a person, clever and nimble; 瓏玲 can describe a clear, jade-like ring or a bright, lucid look. The neighboring character helps determine the meaning.

1Why does 瓏 show as a box on some devices?
Because that device's fonts have no glyph for it. The character is still correct and still copies correctly — the box is a missing glyph, not a broken character.
