What 篕 means
In its attested compounds, 篕 refers to coarse matting.
The Shuowen Jiezi, a Chinese dictionary, defines 籧篨 as a coarse bamboo mat. Fangyan, a regional-word glossary, records 篕棪 as a name for such mats east of the passes; the Kangxi Dictionary also cites 篕𣝎. These mats were woven from bamboo or reeds. The classic poetry collection Book of Songs uses 籧篨 for a condition that prevents bending forward; that figurative sense belongs to 籧篨.
