What 蝵 means
蝵 means “spider”; it is a variant form linked to 蟗.
Taiwan’s Ministry of Education dictionary entry from 2024 notes that the early Chinese character dictionary Shuowen Jiezi does not record 蝵. The Jiyun, another Chinese dictionary, quotes the Erya, an older reference work, for 次蟗 (“spider”) and notes a form written with 秋; the later Sisheng pianhai dictionary glosses 蝵 itself as “spider.”
蝵 vs 秋: why do they look related?
秋 means “autumn” on its own; here it is part of a variant spelling.
The dictionaries describe 蝵 as a variant spelling in the spider-character family. 秋 helps explain the written form; it does not change 蝵’s meaning.
A historical dictionary form; add a gloss in ordinary prose.
The 秋 inside 蝵 does not make the whole character mean autumn.

Because that device's fonts have no glyph for it. The character is still correct and still copies correctly — the box is a missing glyph, not a broken character.
