What 詝 means
Try zhǔ or zhu3 in a Chinese Pinyin input method.
A Chinese Pinyin input method turns a Mandarin syllable spelling into character candidates. Enter zhǔ, or zhu3 if your keyboard uses tone numbers; whether 詝 appears depends on its candidate list.
Cangjie and Wubi, two other Chinese input methods, use the codes YRJMN and YPSH, respectively. They are input codes, not alternate spellings of 詝.
What does 詝 mean?
It means wisdom or knowledge in literary Chinese.
The Liang-dynasty dictionary Yupian glosses 詝 as “wisdom.” The Chinese dictionary Guangyun also gives the sense “having knowledge.” Structurally, 言 is the speech component and 宁 supplies the sound. Japanese dictionaries also record a native Japanese reading, さとい, meaning “wise.”
Personal names use it too: 奕詝 was the given name of Xianfeng, an emperor of the Qing dynasty, and 宋詝 was the name of an official in Koryŏ, a Korean kingdom.
Rare and literary, with documented use in personal names rather than everyday chat.
A lone 詝 may look like an unfamiliar character, not read as “smart” at a glance.

Questions people ask
1Why does 詝 show as a box on some devices?
Because that device's fonts have no glyph for it. The character is still correct and still copies correctly — the box is a missing glyph, not a broken character.
