What 誫 means
誫 is a written variant of 震 meaning “shaking” or “vibrating.”
The classical Chinese text Liezi uses it in 不誫不止, and commentary explains 誫 through 震. The Chinese character dictionary 字彙補 gives it the gloss 震動 in 1666. In its 2024 entry, Taiwan’s Ministry of Education variant dictionary notes that 誫 is not recorded in 說文, an early Chinese character dictionary.
This is mainly a textual and dictionary form, not an everyday choice in Chinese writing.
In an ordinary sentence, 誫 may be mistaken for a typo; 震 is the familiar form.
