What 鉊 means
鉊 names a large sickle, a curved blade for cutting plants.
Han-era writer Yang Xiong’s glossary Fāngyán (regional speech) records 鉊 in Jiang, Huai, Chen, and Chu, with 鉤, 鎌, and 鍥 for the same tool farther west. The character dictionary Shuōwén Jiězì calls it a large sickle; its traditional analysis pairs 金 (metal) with 召 (sound).
Japanese dictionaries list the readings しょう and おおかま (“large sickle”); the older Vietnamese writing system chữ Nôm uses 鉊 for rìu (“axe”) and chảo (“pan”).
