What 铞 means
It appears in a Chinese door-fitting term. In 钌铞儿, it names a metal clasp or hinge; traditional Chinese writes 釕銱兒. 屈戌儿 is another name.
The 1716 Kangxi Dictionary, a Chinese reference work, omits 銱. The separate word 銱子 names a small handled pot used to brew medicine or warm wine; chapter 84 of the 18th-century Chinese novel Dream of the Red Chamber gives an example.
Use a compound or gloss; 铞 alone gives little context.

Because that device's fonts have no glyph for it. The character is still correct and still copies correctly — the box is a missing glyph, not a broken character.
