What 靌 means
靌 is a rare variant of 寶, meaning “treasure.”
In Mandarin, it is pronounced roughly “baow,” with a tone that dips and rises. The Longkan Shoujian, a Chinese dictionary compiled in 997, lists it as another form of 寶.
Older 寶 appears in oracle-bone inscriptions—marks on bones used for divination—and bronze inscriptions; its form evokes valuables beneath a roof. 靌 is later. Ordinary writing uses 寶 in traditional Chinese, and 宝 in simplified Chinese and Japanese.
A message containing only 靌 gives its word sense; its rare form alone does not reveal why the sender chose it.

1Why does 靌 show as a box on some devices?
Because that device's fonts have no glyph for it. The character is still correct and still copies correctly — the box is a missing glyph, not a broken character.
