What 騝 means
A horse-coat label for a horse with a yellow back.
The Erya, an early Chinese word guide, lists 騝 after 駵馬黃脊, a description combining coat color and a back marking. It also groups 騽 nearby for a horse with a different base coat.
The Stone Drum inscription “右驂騝騝” uses 騝 for a horse in a royal-hunt team. The drums are conventionally dated to the Eastern Zhou, around the 5th century BCE, though their date is debated. As of 2026, dictionaries mark standalone 騝 obsolete in Standard Chinese; it has no established modern symbolic sense.
A historical Chinese horse-coat character, not an emoji.
Alone, it means one coat pattern, not “horse” in general.

Questions people ask
1Why does 騝 show as a box on some devices?
Because that device's fonts have no glyph for it. The character is still correct and still copies correctly — the box is a missing glyph, not a broken character.
