What 騽 means
A yellow-backed black horse, or a horse with long lower-leg hair. The old meaning of 騽 has two surviving glosses. A form identified as 騽 appears in oracle-bone inscriptions from the Shang period: ritual questions carved on animal bones. Shang scribes recorded horse traits relevant to war, hunting, travel and ritual.
The early Chinese glossary Erya gives the coat gloss; the early character dictionary Shuowen Jiezi gives the shin-hair gloss. Different old notes also connect 驔 with both descriptions, so the entries overlap.
Archaic, specialist horse terminology.
Its two old descriptions overlap with 驔; context may not resolve the distinction.
