What 鿺 means
It is the first character in a two-character macaw word.
The pair 鿺𬸢 is listed as a Chinese word for a macaw. The older form 𪄳 has the Mandarin reading mài, written in pinyin and pronounced roughly like “my” with a falling tone. Unihan also lists the Cantonese reading mak6 in Jyutping, a Cantonese romanization; it sounds like “mak” with a clipped final k and a low, level tone.
The Kangxi Dictionary, a Chinese character dictionary, cites Jiyun while glossing the older form 𪄳 as “bird.”
Is 鿺 the same as 𪄳?
No: 𪄳 is its traditional-form counterpart.
The Unihan database, Unicode’s dataset for Han characters, lists 鿺 as a simplified variant of 𪄳. The graphic parts 麥 and 鳥 in 𪄳 are simplified to 麦 and 鸟 in 鿺. The macaw word is written 鿺𬸢 in simplified form and 𪄳鷎 in traditional form.
