The text order is consonant, then vowel sign. A Devanagari font positions ॉ with its syllable when displaying the text, so its visible placement may differ from the order you entered. Inserting ॉ by itself leaves it without a host consonant.
What does ॉ mean?
It marks a more open o-like vowel in some borrowed-word spellings.
A matra is a dependent vowel mark attached to a consonant. In Hindi, ॉ appears in कॉफी (“coffee”), कॉलेज (“college”), and डॉक्टर (“doctor”). Marathi and Konkani also use it for comparable vowel qualities in borrowed words; the exact pronunciation depends on the language and word.
In the nineteenth century, Marathi spellings sometimes replaced English loanword vowels with local substitutes; as English gained prestige, those borrowed vowel qualities returned.
