What does ℾ mean?
ℾ is a double-struck capital gamma used as a distinct mathematical letter.
Its shape alone does not fix its meaning. The formula around it tells you what it names; it does not automatically stand for the gamma function, a universal constant, or a particular set.
Blackboard bold began as a practical legibility trick: doubled strokes helped mathematical letters stand out on blackboards and typewriters. Use is documented in France in the late 1950s and at Princeton in the early 1960s; printed mathematics later used the style to mark distinct notation.
Technical and mathematical; it marks notation, not tone or decoration.
Do not substitute ℾ for Γ unless your notation defines the distinction.
