What 𛱖 means
It marks the U vowel in Romanian stenography.
French priest Émile Duployé published his shorthand in 1860 for quick note-taking. Romanian stenographer Henri Stahl adapted it in 1898, then published his own system in 1908. A 1984 Romanian stenography guide by Margareta Sfințescu shows this U's end and middle-position forms. Catholic priest Jean-Marie-Raphaël Le Jeune later adapted Duployan for Chinook Jargon, a shared regional language, and Indigenous languages in British Columbia.
In joined Romanian writing, 𛱖 can take the middle-position form 𛱛 (Duployan Ow); it still stands for Romanian U.

Questions people ask
1Why does 𛱖 show as a box on some devices?
Because that device's fonts have no glyph for it. The character is still correct and still copies correctly — the box is a missing glyph, not a broken character.
