What ⶭ means
It writes one syllable in Bench orthography. The sign belongs to an Ethiopic extension for Bench sounds missing from the core inventory. Its Unicode label, “Cce,” identifies this member; it does not tell you the syllable's meaning.
The extension was proposed as early as 1981 and described in a 1998 encoding proposal for Bench publishing, schools, a New Testament and a dictionary. The Ethiopic script itself began as a consonant script derived from South Arabian writing for Ge’ez, then became an abugida—a script whose consonant signs change form to show vowels—by the 4th century; it later served Amharic and Tigre.
A specialist sign for Bench text, proposed for publishing, education, scripture and reference work.
If ⶭ shows as a box, the character is still in the text; the font needs support for Ethiopic Extended.

Questions people ask
1Why does ⶭ show as a box on some devices?
Because that device's fonts have no glyph for it. The character is still correct and still copies correctly — the box is a missing glyph, not a broken character.
