What 첦 means
Korean two-set input: C, J, F, V.
In Korean input mode, those keys enter ㅊ, ㅓ, ㄹ, ㅍ; the last two form final cluster ㄿ.
If your tool accepts jamo (letters that build Hangul syllables), enter 첦; Unicode normalization can recompose it as 첦.
Does 첦 mean anything by itself?
No established standalone meaning is supported as of 2026.
It combines initial consonant ㅊ, vowel ㅓ, and final cluster ㄿ. That explains its spelling, not a translation. In 읊다, the Korean verb “to recite,” ㄿ has a clipped p-like ending before ㄷ.
The Sejong Sillok, a Korean royal chronicle, records Hangul’s first announcement in 1443. The explanatory book Hunminjeongeum appeared in 1446, describing its letters, syllable assembly, and purpose: a writing system for Korean speech. Names for Korean writing have included jeongeum, eonmun, banjeol, gukmun, and gukseo; these are labels for the writing system, not components of 첦.
Why does 첦 split into jamo?
Unicode can show the same syllable as separate jamo.
첦 corresponds to the component sequence 첦. Unicode normalization can switch between the precomposed block and its component jamo as equivalent text; a font or editor may show the components separately.
Neutral as a written block; it has no reliable emotional tone by itself.

1Why does 첦 show as a box on some devices?
Because that device's fonts have no glyph for it. The character is still correct and still copies correctly — the box is a missing glyph, not a broken character.
