What 겔 means
It means “gel,” a jelly-like material. Korean also writes it 젤; 겔 follows the German loanword form.
Hangul was designed for Korean speech, which Chinese characters (hanja) did not represent well. Its creation was recorded in 1443; the 1446 guide 훈민정음 explained the script. Fonts can arrange Hangul letters differently inside a syllable block without changing 겔.
